You had one. It took twenty minutes to work out the first time, then ten seconds flat, and then you did it four hundred more times.

This is where we keep the Transformers. G1 from the Hasbro run, including the ones that started life as Diaclone and Microman moulds. Soundwave and his cassettes. Masterpiece and Studio Series from the modern shelf, for the ones who transform them twice and then leave them in robot mode.

Two things we always check on vintage G1: the chrome and the joints. Chrome flakes, old plastic gets tired, stickers lift at the corners. We photograph the actual item and we tell you what we see — including when it isn't pretty.

We're still filling this shelf. Tell us which one you had, and we'll watch for it.

Reconnect with your childhood — one toy at a time.
